Health Academy Pathway:

Vista del Lago ‘s Health Academy Program is a 4-year program with 3 years funded by the California Partnership Academy Grant. This innovative program is designed to give students and overview of the human body, its functions, healthcare, medical terminology and public health. The senior capstone course in Community Health Worker prepares the students for entry level healthcare.

This pathway prepares students to go into careers which will enhance, sustain or improve the physical wellness of the community in a variety of healthcare settings and focuses on careers in patient care, public or mental health.

Students may be enrolled in the freshmen year Exploring Health and Medical Careers but must apply in January of the freshman year to show they are still interested in the Academy Program. Once in the Academy, students are expected to maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher along with passing the pathway electives with a C or better.

Please find the Health Academy interest form for the 10th and 11th grade Academy Program. Interest forms need to be turned into Mrs. Dolan in A155 during January and February. Students then attend a group interview to determine eligibility for the program.
