Welcome to the Health Academy! I am Mrs. Dolan, the director of the Academy and the teacher of the Career Technical Education courses within the Program. The Health Career Program began 10 years ago with our first graduating students in 2009. This program is intended for students who want to help others and go into a health career after high school. The Academy begins in the sophomore year with the Introduction to Health Careers course which covers many general healthcare concepts including first aid and CPR Certification, beginning medical terminology, and exposure to many careers. Junior year they take Body Systems and Disorders which covers medical terminology by body system and job seeking skills. Senior year, the class is Advanced Concepts for the Medical Professional. This class combines the knowledge from the first two years and adds medical communications, study of the life span and creation of a professional portfolio. Introduction to Health Careers and Body Systems and Disorders are articulated with Moreno Valley College and give students college credit. Body Systems and Disorders and Advanced Concepts for the Medical Professional are UC A-g Courses.
