“Ravens” Saturday School
The goal of Saturday School is to recuperate lost ADA for those students that have excessive tardies and/or absences.  “Excessive” means the student has accumulated more than four (4) tardies and/or more than four (4) periods of unexcused absences.  The administrative team wants to provide extensive interventions for reading, writing and math.

Vista Del Lago High School wants to give those students that attend Saturday School an intervention that they can take home and use.  We want to help the student attain the skills and knowledge base for them to be successful in all of their classes.  The programs that we will be using are called the “Khan Academy” and “Shmoop”.  We will help students attain a logon on that will give them access to tutoring at home as well as in Saturday School.  Khan Academy is a web-based tutoring program that is student-based.  Khan academy provides tutoring from 3rd grade up to the Senior Year in College.  The tutoring is in all of the Academic Curriculum.    It includes tutoring in SAT and PSAT testing.  Shmoop will give the students another tutoring program to access that they can use at school and at home.

Saturday school will be offered approximately once per month (see Saturday School Schedule).  Saturday School will begin at 8:00 am and end at 12:10 pm.  For the student to get credit for Saturday School they must attend the entire time.  If the student creates a problem in class, or distracts others, they will be asked to leave and not get credit for attending.
Session I- 08:00 am - 09:55 am
Break- 09:55 am - 10:05 am
Session II- 10:05 am - 12:10 pm
All students will report to the Commons prior to 8:00 am; the doors will be locked at 8:00 am.  The student must be present for the entire 240 minutes to receive credit.  Students will then be divided into 4 classes and will rotate through the morning, attending each one of the four classes.  There are two classes for math and two classes for English skills.
